1. Create an export
- Create the export with your password manager's own export function.
- Select the same manager in ExportView: Bitwarden or Proton Pass.
- Store the file where other people cannot read it. An unencrypted export contains passwords in plain text.
A Proton Pass ZIP export may be unencrypted or encrypted. For an encrypted ZIP, ExportView asks for the export password before opening it.
2. Open the export in ExportView
- Open ExportView and select the password manager.
- Click Choose export file and select the JSON or ZIP file.
- If the export is encrypted, enter the password assigned to that export file. It is never uploaded.
- After the file opens, use the search field to find records by service, URL or username.
3. Table columns and CSV export
- Service: the item name and, when available, its folder.
- URL / app: website addresses saved in the item. An app may not have a URL.
- Username / email: the login username or email address.
- Password: passwords are hidden initially. Click Show or Copy.
- TOTP key: the TOTP value saved in the item, if present.
Custom fields and notes are not shown as table columns, but they are included in the CSV export. Click Download CSV. The CSV is created and downloaded directly in the browser and contains passwords in plain text.
Use it safely
The export is processed in browser memory. The file, password and decrypted contents are not sent to Sorola or written to persistent browser storage. Clear the results when you are finished and close the tab.
Do not use the tool on a device you do not trust. Browser extensions, malware or another person using the device can still see passwords displayed in the browser.
